Irfanview - Graphics Manipulator Surpreme Jan 13, 2001

If you have a computer, chances are you view graphics of some sort. People send you email with image attachments, you may want to view images downloaded from the internet, you may collect desktop wallpapers, or you may use your computer to store your photgraphs. The list goes on and on.
You may think of programs like Windows Paint, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro when you think of graphics programs - these are widely used to create and edit various types of images. You may have a program like Photo Express that came with your scanner that you use in conjunction with scanning images.
However; if what you want is a program whose primary use is to view images and as a secondary matter - alter the images (althought this program has an extensive list of image altering commands); then this program is for you. I consider it a must have and been making extensive use of it every day for three years.
Here's a list of some of those secondary features:
Basic image editing and processing functions, including cut, crop, resize, resample, change the color depth, adjust brightness, adjust contrast, convert to greyscale, gamma correction, sharpen image, swap colors,
red/gree/blue color balancing. It has command line options and it can display images in a slideshow and extract frames from ANI files, AVI movies and animated GIFs.
In addition this program has print support, scan(TWAIN) support, Batch conversion of images, Thumbnail viewing of directories of images, and much more.
IrfanView is a very fast image viewer and converter that supports the following formats: AIF, ANI, BMP, CAM, CLP, CPT, CUR, DCX, DIB, DJVU, EPS, FlashPix, RLE, JPG, GIF (including animated GIF), PCD, PCX, PNG, TIF, IFF/LBM, LWF, PSD, TGA, RAS, ICO, AVI, WMF, EMF, PBJ, PBM, PGM, PPM, PCD, PSP, and XBM/XPM. You can also use IrfanView to convert between many of the above file types.
All this and there are no DLLs, no obnoxious nag screens and no banner ads. It's still absolutely free for home users. I strongly recommend you download and try out program from the authors web site at: Irfanview
You should also download and install Irfanview Shell Extenstion 1.01 for some great additions to your explorer context menu that relate to irfanview.
