Poppy Email Checker by Jan g.P. Siym

I've tried at least a dozen freeware email checker programs over the years, some loaded with features such as anti-spam or headline reading features, some that load other programs for you and some that just plain don't work. I've finally settled on Poppy about 8 months or so ago.

Poppy is a small utility that notifies you when you have email waiting for you on the POP3 server or internet provided. It can check multiple POP3 servers and check for new messages at time intervals of you choosing.

Once you have started Poppy, you will see a little icon in the system tray. When Poppy detects that mail is available on any of the configured POP3 servers, it will let you know by changing the little icon into an open envelope. Optionally, Poppy can also play a sound or popup a little notification window.

Left click on the Poppy system tray icon and a drop down menu appears which allows your to: check for email, set your options, start up your main email program, access the help menu or visit the authors web site.

Poppy is small and simple but provides you with enough features to check for email messages on a regular basis while using only minimal resources.

Poppy is one of three or four programs I have in my Startup menu since its such a small resources user. I have a cable connection and I want my email checked every 15 minutes. I also have it configured with on of those sexy female voices telling me I have email.

The author has made sever upgrades to the program over the past several months and is continuing to try to improve it even more. I have never had a problem of any sort with the program. It sits in my tray and "just keeps tickin". You can down Poppy
